If a Christian woman is prayerful and wise, she’ll know when it’s okay and when it’s not. When it’s just her and her husband, her and her family, or her and her girlfriends, then it’s a no brainer.Sure, you can wear a bikini. Are bikinis OK in the New Testament?

The emphasis is that a Christian woman should be more concerned with displaying her godly character than her skin. How to respect your husband?
As a married woman, you have a responsibility to respect your husband. If he feels like he’d rather you wear something more modest, than maybe explore with him why. Does he feel like other men will find you “hot” in your swimsuit and he doesn’t like that? Or, is he feeling pressure from the groups you are in to meet some–not necessarily biblical–but imposed standard of dress? Have a heart to heart conversation and ask him why? As you husband, he does have a right to speak into your decision. Pray before the conversation and ask the Holy Spirit to soften both of your hearts so you can really hear each other and understand each other’s point of view.

As believers we are called to make informed and thoughtful decisions. This is wisdom, no matter what the issue.
Does the Bible say that showing your navel is sinful?
Does the Bible tell us that showing your navel is sinful? I don’t believe I’ve seen that specific verse. I can’t make a hard and fast rule that says wearing a bikini is wrong for every woman. A very pregnant friend recently sported a bikini on a 100-degree Texas day because she was uncomfortable in anything else. Having worn my fair share of maternity one pieces that have no less than seven layers of thick lycra over your already hot belly, I could ‘amen’ her decision.
Did he still marry me after that act of lunacy?
He was caught off guard . . . to say the least. Yes, I’m a little surprised he still married me after that act of lunacy. I used that little two piece suit to affirm that I was physically good enough. I wanted my bikini to bring attention and glory, not to God, but to me.
On Modesty
I’ve addressed the topic of biblical mandates on modesty in dress previously. In short, I believe what we read in verses like 1 Timothy 1:9-10 speak to the suitability of attire for a given situation and — more importantly — audience.
Modesty Applied
With that in mind, you can probably guess how I’d apply this model to the subject at hand. Depending on the situation, I see nothing whatsoever wrong with Christian women wearing bikinis. And I mean in plain sight, not the common bikini under an oversized t-shirt approach.
What about the Children?
What about kids? Well, it’s not always in our children’s capacity to prayerfully evaluate suitability, so that responsibility falls on us as parents. Traditional modesty is an easy out, and it should be a fallback option if ever there is a doubt.

Can you die for Christ in Texas?
Yes, your Texas summer friend can find better options. We are to die to self. Not live for anything but Christ. You don’t die for Christ by dressing like a prostitute. There is no ‘fine line’. It’s defined simply by not exposing our sexual parts. Clear cut, nothing blurry. Mature saints can see it as easy as the gospel. As soon as you include your selfish needs, desires or wants you are not living intentionally as a SERVANT of Christ, you are serving yourself. I would warm this up with syrupy language but the glaringly obvious is the ‘ear tickling’ that is going on in this article.

It sounds like she has an inferiority complex maybe? Is she depending on being attractive to other men for love instead of God’s love? No, a real christian women shouldn’t be wearing a bikini in public. If its in her own yard, where no one can see her at all even you – its fine. It doesn’t sound like she respects your feelings.

Its to easy to get unnecessarily uptight about some issues. Modesty is an inner attitude rather than something related to externals, although there is some relationship, obviously. if she is comfortable with wearing a bikini, then fine, provided the time and place is suitable.

Personally I don’t see any problem with women wearing bikinis…or should men wear 1 piece bathing suits as well?

I agree with wonderwaleye here, the important thing is to get the things right with God, and not arguing about bikinis.
How does the bikini affect women?
The bikini has single handedly destroyed the moral compass of the average woman today. The bikini has warped almost every woman’s view on modesty and decency. When a woman is told that it’s completely normal and appropriate to uncover 90% of her body, she is being taught that nakedness is totally normal.

The only reason we, as Americans, still cover our intimate parts is because our country was founded on Biblical principles. Clothes were God’s idea. Modesty comes from God. Clothing was God’s specific design to cover the shame that resulted from sin.
Who invented the bikini?
In 1946 a man named Louis Réard designed and introduced the bikini. This small piece of swimwear was considered so risque that Mr. Réard couldn’t find a single model who was willing to showcase it. The only woman who was finally willing to model Réard’s new bathing suit was an eighteen-year-old nude dancer from Paris.
